New
in SecureCRT 8.1
SecureCRT 8.1 updates the UI on the Mac and Linux platforms with new toolbar icons and tab groups, which allow you to easily compare the output of two sessions, group related sessions, and switch easily between groups. New productivity enhancements include a hex view, new Command window options to send commands to tab groups or visible sessions, and the ability to add keywords using the right-click menu. Mac and Linux versions have improved smart card (PIV/CAC) support.
Here are some of the new features in SecureCRT 8.1:
Tab groups for Mac and Linux
Get more done in less time using tab groups. Switch easily between sessions organized in tabs. Or create a temporary tab group so you can work in one tab while monitoring command output from another tab.
UI enhancements (Mac and Linux)
SecureCRT for Mac has a new GUI and main toolbar. Mac and Linux versions have new toolbar icons in the Session Manager and Connect dialog. Linux makes local shell connections easier with a new toolbar icon.
Enhanced serial support
A hex view helps to debug serial communication. When configuring serial sessions only, valid COM ports are shown in the Session Options dialog.
Command window enhancement
The Command window can now send commands to selected tab groups or visible sessions.
Keyword highlighting improvement
Quickly add keywords to the keyword highlighting list – simply select a word in a session, right-click, and choose Add keyword....
Multi-tab actions (Windows only)
Select multiple tabs and use the right-click menu to perform the following operations: Send to New Tab Group, Send to New Window, Disconnect, Close, and Lock.
Encryption enhancements
Enhanced smart card support: On Mac and Linux, select a specific certificate on the smart card (PIV/CAC) to be used for public-key authentication. PKCS #11 certificates are supported. On all platforms, the username can be pulled directly from the specified certificate.
New public-key authentication options (Mac and Linux): Certificates can be used as raw key. Public keys can be exported in OpenSSH format and from PKCS #11.
SSH agent (Mac and Linux): X.509v3 keys can be added to the SSH agent.
Time-saving enhancements
The Options menu now includes an Edit Default Session item so you can quickly change the default session. The Session Manager and Connect dialog right-click menus now include Expand All Folders and Collapse All Folders.
