Pre-Cueing
Previewing the next song through headphones:
- Connect split output adapter.
- Open djay settings by tapping the cogwheel icon.
- Enable Split Output.

Instant song preview
You can preview a song within the library, i.e without having to load it on a deck. Tap and hold a song in the library until the menu appears, then select "Preview". Note that you also have other options, e.g. "Add to Queue" or "Load".
Preview Mode
When Pre-Cueing is active, you can also enable "Preview Mode" by tapping the headphone icon in the upper right corner of the library. In this mode, tapping a song will preview it instead of loading it on the deck.
Sharing via AirPlay
Wirelessly transmit your mix to Apple TV or AirPort Express station:
- Make sure your Apple TV or AirPort Express station is in the same Wi-Fi network as your device.
- Open djay settings by tapping the cogwheel icon.
- The AirPlay icon will show up next to the master volume slider.
- Tap the AirPlay icon to select the station to transmit to.
Exporting your recordings to your computer
- Connect device to your Mac or PC.
- Select your device from the Devices section on the left side of iTunes.
- Click the Apps tab and scroll down to the bottom of the page.
- Under the File Sharing section select djay to retrieve your recordings.
- Drag and drop recordings from the Documents list to a folder on your computer.
Level meter / gain swipe
- Swipe finger on level meters to adjust gain.
- Double tap to reset.
Automatic transitions
- Tap on arrow buttons next to crossfader.
- Customize transition (style, duration, BPM sync option) in Settings > Transition.
Auto-Sync BPM in Automix mode
Automatically matches tempo and beats of two songs:
- Tap the Automix button to open the Automix pane.
- Navigate to Transition settings.
- Enable Auto-Sync BPM option.
Note: BPMs are matched if the applied tempo factor does not exceed the tempo slider range. The latter can be adjusted in Settings > General > Tempo Slider.
Auto-Cut Scratching
Rhythmically cuts your scratch to tempo of other turntable:
- Move two fingers on record.
- Hold SHIFT button and move jog wheel.
Manual fader cut
Tap on crossfader (outside of knob). Slide finger up to keep knob centered.
Wave juggling
Tap on overview waveform display for beat-synchronized scrubbing.
Toggle time display
Tap time display to toggle between elapsed and remaining time.
Reset cue points
Hold Set (Cue Point) button.
Hold SHIFT + cue point button.
Reset sliders
Double tap slider (tempo, EQ).
Note: EQ settings are automatically reset when a new song is loaded. You can disable "Reset EQ" in Settings > General.
Customize tempo slider
- Open djay settings by tapping the cogwheel icon.
- Navigate to Settings > General.
- Customize tempo slider behavior to your preferred style (inverted, fine adjust, and range).
Turntable power-off FX
Tap on red light next to turntable.
Loop-Cue shifting
When looping is activated, jump to cue point to shift current loop region.
Bounce Loop swipe
Swipe finger across bounce loop matrix to change loop interval on the fly.
Advanced BPM editing
Tap on the BPM display. This will bring up a menu that allows you to half, double, manually tap, or restore the analyzed BPM value.
Audio Copy & Paste
djay allows you to paste audio from other music apps onto the turntables. Simply hold the load button until the menu appears and choose "Paste".
Loading recordings on the turntables
To load a recording you made in djay onto one of the turntables, select the recording in the recordings panel and tap the "Load" button in the navigation bar.
Load next song from Library
Swipe down on the deck's load button to quickly load the next song from your current playlist selection.
DJ QBert Scratch Tools
To load DJ QBert's Scratch Tools, simply hold the load button until the menu appears and choose "Scratch Tools".
Open one side of the Sampler
Tap and hold the Sampler button, then drag it to the left or right. This allows you to trigger samples on one side and work with a deck on the other side simultaneously. To close one side of the Sampler, swipe your finger from the edge of the screen.
Instant Doubles
Tap and hold the load button until the menu appears, then choose "Double".This allows you to instantly load the song on one deck onto the other.
Import your own sample files
You can import your own samples to djay via iTunes File Sharing.
Controlling djay with MIDI hardware
djay works with select MIDI controllers. Simply plug in a supported controller and take your dj'ing to the next level. Please see our hardware page for the list of supported controllers.
