HOW TO PLAY LUXOR 2

=================================

Egypt is in trouble and you are their only hope! The great goddess, Isis, has enlisted you to battle Set and his evil minions.  Journey throughout the Two Lands and thwart Set’s diabolical plans, but be warned, Set will not be pleased with your interference!

THE BASICS

·         Move the mouse left and right to move the scarab shooter.

·         Left click to fire a sphere at the oncoming spheres and prevent them from reaching the pyramid(s) at the end of the path(s).

·         Right clicking will exchange the primary sphere for the secondary sphere held in the shooter’s claws.

·         Match three or more same-colored spheres to eliminate them and fill in a portion of the progress bar.

·         Prevent the approaching spheres from reaching the pyramid(s) at the end of the path.

·         Catch falling coins, gems, jewelry pieces and power-ups with your shooter for extra lives, points and abilities.

·         Continue to eliminate the approaching spheres until the progress bar is filled, and all spheres on the board are destroyed.

THE SCARAB

·         The green and gold scarab at the end of a group of spheres pushes the spheres toward your pyramid(s).

·         A scarab can only be destroyed by eliminating all the spheres it is pushing, or by being crushed from behind by another group of spheres.

·         When a scarab is destroyed by eliminating all its spheres, it will drop gems and jewelry worth extra bonus points.

·         Scarabs will continue to spawn until the progress bar is filled.

POWER-UPS

=================================

ANKH COINS

·         Whenever 4 or more spheres are eliminated, there is a chance to spawn an Ankh Coin. The more spheres eliminated at one time, the greater the change for an Ankh Coin.

·         Move the shooter beneath the falling coin to catch it.

·         The counter on the bottom left of the screen shows how many coins have been collected.

·         Each time 30 coins have been collected, the counter is reset and an extra life is added to player’s total.

·         Coins collected in a level carry over to subsequent levels.

·         Extra lives remaining at the end of the game will score 50,000 bonus points each.

GEMS

·         Whenever all of a scarab’s spheres are eliminated, it will burst and drop gems and jewelry pieces worth extra points.

·         The farther from the pyramid a scarab is when destroyed, the more gems and jewelry pieces will be spawned.

·         Move the shooter beneath the falling gem or jewelry piece to catch it.

·         Instant effect power-ups activate instantly when caught.

·         Move the shooter beneath the falling icon to catch and activate it.

SCORING

=================================

Base Point Value:

Each sphere is worth 100 points.

Matches:

Creating matches causes collapses. Each collapse scores bonus points of 100 points for each sphere. So, a match of 3 will score 300 points, a match of 4 will score 400 points, a match of 5 will score 500 points, etc.

Multi-Matches:
A multi-match is caused when each sphere shot creates a collapse. Each 3rd multi-match will spawn a powerful power-up (one on the 3rd, one on the 6th, etc.) Additional bonus points will be added to the value of each consecutive collapse starting on the 3rd.

 Chain Reactions:

When spheres are collapsed, and the two spheres on either end of the gap are of the same color, they will attract back to each other. If the spheres connect and there are 3 or more, they will also collapse. This is known as a chain reaction. Bonus points are awarded for each consecutive chain reaction.

Difficulty Levels and Scoring:

Scoring is increased as the player progresses in the level of difficulty. Easy is scored at a 1:1 ratio. Normal is scored at a 1.5:1 ratio. Expert is scored at a 2:1 ratio, and Challenge of Horus is scored at a 3:1 ratio.

PROFILE

=================================

            A player’s scores and progression through the game are saved in a Profile. When the game is run for the first time, the player will be asked to enter their name to create the first profile. The active profile is shown at the top of the Main Menu screen. Profiles can be added and deleted, or the active profile can be changed by clicking the ‘if this is not you, click here’ button beneath the name.

TROUBLE SHOOTING (PC version only)

=================================

This program has been tested extensively to make sure it will operate correctly for all users. If you run into problems with system crashes, error messages or other incorrect behavior, we suggest you first try one of the following:

1) Upgrade your computers sound card drivers. This can be done by identifying the type of sound card your computer is using, and finding the manufacturer's web site. Or, most drivers will be automatically updated if you follow step #2

2) Upgrade DirectX. This is a Microsoft component and it includes special drivers for video cards and sound cards for virtually every manufacturer. It is therefore a very large download, but updating DirectX solves nearly all system problems that are encountered with MumboJumbo games.

The most recent download location for DirectX is:

http://www.microsoft.com/directx

3) LUXOR 2 features a built-in Bug Reporting interface. If, for some reason, LUXOR 2 crashes, this interface may be displayed. Simply enter your e-mail address and press the send button. LUXOR 2 will then send us information on the problem so that we may issue updates in the future that may resolve it.
