Creating Hierarchies

Hierarchies identify a series of parent-child relationships used to aggregate the data.

To create a hierarchy:

  1. In the Create/Edit Cube Dimension dialog box, select Hierarchies.

  2. Click the add icon to create a hierarchy.

  3. Replace the HIERARCHYx placeholders with meaningful values.

  4. Select the properties that characterize your data. See Create/Edit Cube Dimension: Hierarchies.

  5. Select the levels that compose the hierarchy and use the shuttle keys to move them to Selected Levels.

  6. Use the up- and down-arrows to order the levels from the most aggregate level at the top (such as Year) to the detailed level at the bottom (such as Day).

  7. Repeat steps 2 to 6 until you are done creating hierarchies.
