In order to make it possible for users to use Data Miner, you must install the Data Miner Repository, grant at least one account rights to use the repository. You can also load Sample Data used by the Oracle by Example tutorials.
You can perform these tasks in one of these ways:
Run the script using SQL*Plus
Run the script from SQL Developer using SQL Worksheet
Install Oracle Database, as described in Install Oracle Database.
Install SQL Developer if it is not already installed. See Download SQL Developer for details.
The installation scripts are in SQLDevHome
\sqldeveloper\dataminer\scripts
, where SQLDevHome
is the directory where you installed SQL Developer.
You must run the scripts as SYS. Make sure that you know the administrative password for the database that used for data mining.
Create an administrative connection if you do not already have one. See Create an Administrative Database Connection.
Create at least one user account if you have not already created one. The user account must satisfy these requirements:
Grant the account the CONNECT role.
The tablespace for the account must have Unlimited Quota
Create a User Account Using SQL Developer describes how to create an account using SQL Developer.
Prepare your tool for installation:
Use installodmr.sql
to install the Oracle Data Miner Repository. For example, type these commands into SQL Worksheet
set serveroutput on set echo on @installodmr.sql <default tablespsce> <TEMP tablespace> (for example, @installodmr.sql USER TEMP)
Click Run Scripts.
The initial space requirement for the Data Miner Repository is 200MB; however, the tablespace grows as metadata is added.
The script will take approximately 10 minutes to run for remote database installation and 2 minutes for local database installation.
Use usergrants.sql
user_account
to grant the specified user account the rights required by Oracle Data Miner to use the Oracle Data Miner Repository. For example, in SQL Worksheet,
set serveroutput on set echo on @usergrants.sql <user account to apply grants to>
Click Run Scripts.
Use instDemoData.sql
user_account
to prepare the demo data for a user. The script grants user access to the SH schema, creates MINING_DATA_* views in the user account based on SH schema, and loads an insurance data table to the user account. This demo data includes the table and views used by the Oracle By Example for Oracle Data Miner 11g R2 tutorials.
You can now use Data Miner. You must connect as an ordinary user account with the appropriate user grants.
