Create from Template

A template is an XML document that describes the metadata for dimensional objects. You can create an entire analytic workspace from a template or add dimensional objects to an existing analytic workspace.

The content of this dialog box changes depending on where the XML document is stored:

Contents: Shows the contents of the selected template in a hierarchical tree structure. When you select more than one template, only one of them is displayed.

Source: Shows the XML descriptions of the objects in the template. To search for an object within the template, enter the object name, type, or other text in the text field and click Find.

Options: Lists options that restrict the object definitions that are created from the template:

Create from File

The template is stored in a directory for which you have read access.

Location: Select the directory where the file is saved. You can change the directory by expanding the drop-down list, using the icons to the right, or selecting from the directory tree.

Directory Tree: Lists subdirectories and files under the Location directory. Selecting a subdirectory in this box sets the value of Location. Selecting a file sets the value of File Name. To choose between seeing all files and only template files, set File Type.

The icons to the right of Location also control the content of directory tree. The icons are identified by tool tips: Up one level, Desktop, Create new folder, List, and Details.

File Name: Select the file containing the XML document from the directory tree.

File Type: Controls the files displayed in the Directory Tree. Select Template Files to see only XML files.

Create from Table

The template is stored in a relational table for which you have SELECT privileges in an Oracle database.

Schema: Select the schema where the template is stored.

Table Name: The name of the templates table, which is always CUBE_TEMPLATES in this release.

Filter: Selects the templates listed in Saved Templates using a SQL WHERE clause. Following are examples of valid filters:

name LIKE '%SALES%' AND modified >= sysdate -7
version >='11.2'
parent_object = 'GLOBAL'

You can also use the Type field to restrict the list.

Saved Templates: The list of templates stored in the table. The following columns are populated with metadata describing the templates:

Name: The name of the template selected in Saved Templates.

Description: The description of the template.

Comments: Any additional information saved with the template.

Type: Controls the object types shown in Saved Templates.
