Index

Calculates the ratio between the values of a measure and a selected value that serves as a base number. Multiplying this fraction by 100 generates the percentage.

Example

This example defines the value of Desktop PCs in 2006 as the index for Units. The Channel and Customer dimensions default to the most aggregate member (Total).

Query Results

The following table lists Products at the Family level for 2006. Because Desktop PCs is the index, its value of 45,763 units has an index value of 100%. The index values of all other products are calculated in relation to this number.
