Upgrading from SQL Developer 3.1

There are a number of failures that occur when a SQL Developer 3.1 user upgrades to Oracle Database 12c Release 1 (12.1) or installs SQL Developer 3.1 or 3.2 on Oracle Database 12c Release 1 (12.1). These failures are due to API changes that break the old usage.

SQL Developer 4.0 address all of these issues. Data Miner issues a warning dialog noting that SQL Developer 3.1 or 3.2 has some compatibility issues with Oracle Database 12c Release 1 (12.1). A help topic itemizes the known issues. The warning is displayed when the use first connects with the Database. You can choose to not to see the warning again. See Compatibility Issues for more information.
