Install Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.1) or later; for directions see the Oracle Database Documentation Library. You must install the Enterprise Edition of the database.
Note: Certain features, such as building models that use the EM or SVD/PCA algorithms, require Oracle Database 12c. |
Download the software from Oracle Database Software Downloads at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
.
To use Oracle Data Miner, you must connect to an Oracle database that satisfies these requirements:
Uses the AL32UTF8 character set if there is any chance that you use data from multi-byte languages.
The installer chooses the default character set based on your system's locale. The AL32UTF8 character set ensures maximum support for character data using characters from all languages (single-byte languages such as English, as well as multi-byte languages such as Simplified Chinese). It is particularly important to specify this character set if you intend to perform text mining on a wide variety of languages. The AL32UTF8 character set is also required to display translated versions of the GUI correctly.
Oracle Data Mining is installed. Oracle Data Mining is installed automatically when you install Oracle Database Enterprise Edition.
Oracle Text is installed. Oracle Text is installed automatically when you install Oracle Database Enterprise Edition.
Oracle XML DB is installed. Oracle XML DB is installed automatically when you install Oracle Database Enterprise Edition.
The Data Miner Repository has been redesigned to improve performance and reliability. See XML DB Requirements for Data Miner 4.0.
Data used by the Oracle By Example tutorials requires the SH schema. If you install a starter database when you install Oracle Database Enterprise Edition, SH is automatically installed.
Note: You must know the Administrative (SYS) password, the name of the host, the port number, and the SID for the database. This information is required to define connections and execute scripts. |
See "Installing Oracle Database and Creating a Database" in Oracle Database 2 Day DBA for more information about installing a starter database.
