Build: Data Refresh Methods

The Data Refresh Methods page identifies the cubes and dimensions included in the build, the preferred build method, and the build specification that defines the steps of the build.

Object Name: The name of a dimension or cube included in the build.

Object Type: Either Cube or Cube Dimension.

Load Options: Controls how the dimension is updated during the build, when the source data has changed.

Sort: Sorts dimension members as specified on the Dimension General page. Otherwise, the sort order is not calculated. For very large dimensions containing millions of members, the sorting time may noticeably increase maintenance time. If you change the Sort option from Yes to No, any previously calculated sort order is deleted. Time dimensions are always sorted, and the sort is based on the end date attribute.

Refresh Method: The method used to refresh and aggregate the data. The list contains only those methods applicable to a particular cube. OLAP uses the selected method, but will revert to a different method if necessary to complete the build.

Choose from among these methods:

Cube Build Specification: Lists the available cube build specifications, from which you can select one to use for this build. The selected build specification can affect the available methods.
