Benefit

The benefit tab allows you to specify a benefit for each value of the target. Values specified are applied to the cost benefit matrix. Specify benefits is useful when there are a great number of target values; benefits allow you to indicate the most important values. For basic information about benefits, see Costs and Benefits

Follow these steps to tune a model using Benefit:

  1. Before you tune the model, you must select Generate Select Test Results for Model Tuning and run the node, as described in Tuning Classification Models.

  2. Open Properties: for the build node: right-click the node and select Go to Properties from the context menu.

  3. Select the models that you want to tune and click the tune icon tune selected models in the menu bar

  4. Select Tune from the drop down menu. The Tune Settings dialog opens in a new tab. In Tune Settings, go to the Benefit tab.

  5. If you are tuning more than one model, select a model from the Models list in the bottom pane. After you tune the first model, return to this pane and select another model.

  6. Select the target value for tuning from the Target Value list.

  7. Specify benefit values for the target value selected. Benefit values can be positive or negative. If there is more benefit from a target value, the benefit value should be higher than other benefit values. The default benefit value for each target value is 0.

Type the benefit value for the selected target in the Benefit box and click Apply to update the Cost Benefits matrix.

  8. When you are done specifying benefit values, click Tune in the right-hand column. Click View to see the derived cost matrix.

When you done tuning, either click OK to accept the tuning or Cancel to cancel.
