YOU, THE END USER, SHALL USE THIS SOFTWARE("THE SOFTWARE") ACCORDING TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT.
BY LOADING THE SOFTWARE INTO ANY COMPUTER, YOU ARE AGREEING TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, YOU MAY NOT LOAD THIS SOFTWARE INTO ANY COMPUTER.
Grant of License
The Software is licensed for use by you for the equipment packaged with the Software or designated by its supplier ("the equipment"). You are permitted to use the Software on any computer which permits electronic access to the equipment. You are not permitted to rent or lease the Software or to transfer your rights under this license to a third party.
Acceptance
You shall be deemed to have accepted the terms of this Agreement by loading the Software into any computer.
Duration
This license is effective until terminated. The license will terminate where you fail to comply with the terms of this Agreement. Upon termination, you agree to destroy all copies of the Software and its documentation.
Ownership of Software
You own, if any, only the magnetic media on which the Software has been delivered. It is an express condition of this Agreement that the title and ownership of the Software shall be retained by its owners.
Copying
The Software and its documentation are the subject of Copyright.
You may not make any copies nor cause others to make copies of the Software except such copies as are necessary for licensed use and one copy for operational security. Any such copies are subject to the conditions of this Agreement.
You may not modify, adapt, merge, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or create derivative works based on the whole or any part of the Software or its associated documentation.
You may be held legally responsible for any copyright infringement, unauthorized transfer, reproduction or use of the Software or its documentation.
Limitation of Warranty
The media, if any, not the Software contained therein, is warranted to the original purchaser against defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of original purchase. Defective media will be replaced when it is returned to your supplier, postage prepaid, along with a copy of the purchase receipt.
THESE RIGHTS ARE YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY, WHETHER IN TORT, CONTRACT, OR OTHERWISE. IN NO EVENT SHALL SUPPLIER, OWNER OF THE SOFTWARE OR ITS LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR DAMAGES (INCLUDING ANY FOR LOSS OF INFORMATION, PROFITS, SAVINGS OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR OTHER DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR SPECIAL DAMAGES) ARISING OUT OF THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE THEREOF, OR THE INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE.
Exporting Law
You acknowledge that the export of the Software is governed by the export control laws of the United States and other countries. You agree to comply with all such export control laws.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
If any provision or portion of this Agreement shall be found to be illegal, invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of California, USA and is subject to the jurisdiction of the Federal District courts for the Central District of California by a judge and not a jury.

Notes:
- WIA function is disabled by default on Windows Server2003/Server2008/Server2012.
- We cannot guarantee proper operation of Terminal Server Edition and Terminal Service.
- Itanium-based systems (Windows 64-bit Edition) are not supported.
- We provide the following drivers.
- WIA scanner driver
- TWAIN Scanner driver
Be sure to close all applications before install the driver.
If you are installing this product at the first time, please follow these steps;
Following procedure installs TWAIN Driver and Printer Driver at once.
Note: This procedure requires administrator privileges.
- Step 1. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM Drive.
- Step 2. A program starts automatically.
- Step 3. Please select the language used in your PC first and click "OK".
- Step 4. Select a button according to your desired connection form.
If you use a USB connection, click USB Quick Install.
If you use a network, click Network Quick Install.
- Step 5. Please follow the instructions on the screen.
When you cannot install the driver from a "driver & utility CD", Please install by following procedure. Be sure to close all applications before install the driver.
If you are installing this product at the first time, please follow
these steps;
Note: This procedure requires administrator privileges.
- Step 1. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM Drive.
- Step 2. A program starts automatically.
- Step 3. Please select the language used in your PC first and click "OK".
- Step 4. Click "Browse this CD-ROM" and contents are shown in a window.
Please perform "Setup.exe" that exists in "(CD-ROM Drive's name):\DRIVERS\TWAIN"(*) folder.
Please follow the instructions on the screen.
TWAIN Scanner driver is a 32-bit driver. It is possible to install it on
Windows x64 Operating Systems, however, it cannot be used with a 64-bit
application.
It might operate well with a 32-bit application on Windows x64 Operating
Systems, however, proper operation of all the functions is not guaranteed.
In the case of USB connection
When "Setup.exe" procedure is done, please connect your PC to a machine with
USB cable, and turn ON the power of the machine. When the power is already
turned ON, please connect a USB cable after turning it OFF. Then, turn it ON
again.
At this time, if the automatic installation (Plug and Play) of OS starts,
please appoint the "(CD-ROM Drive's name):\DRIVERS\TWAIN"(*) folder and install it.
You are required to have completed the installation from CD.
If you are downloading an updated driver from our web site and performing
installation.
Be sure to close all applications before upgrading the driver.
Note: This procedure requires administrator privileges.
In the case of Network connection
- Step 1. Download the updated driver from our web site.
- Step 2. Extract the downloaded file to any folders. The Downloaded file is
compressed with a tool.
- Step 3. Please perform closing the applications certainly. We recommend you to be
certainly performed by re-starting of PC etc.
- Step 4. Please perform previous "Setup.exe".
- Step 5. Please select "Modify" and click "Next".
- Step 6. Please read the license agreement carefully and click "Yes".
- Step 7. Please click "Finish".
- Step 8. Please restart PC after the completion of updating installation.
In the case of USB connection
- Step 1. Download the updated driver from our web site.
- Step 2. Extract the downloaded file to any folders. The Downloaded file is
compressed with a tool.
- Step 3. Please perform closing the applications certainly. We recommend you to be
certainly performed by re-starting of PC etc.
- Step 4. Please remove a USB cable from PC. At this time, ON is still sufficient
as the power supply of a machine.
- Step 5. Please perform previous "Setup.exe".
- Step 6. Please select "Modify" and click "Next".
- Step 7. Please read the license agreement carefully and click "Yes".
- Step 8. Please click "Finish".
- Step 9. Please confirm that the power supply of a machine is ON and connect a USB
cable to PC.
At this time, when automatic installation (Plug and Play) of OS starts, please appoint the folder which you downloaded.
- Step 10. Please restart PC after the completion of updating installation.
Be sure to close all applications before uninstall the driver.
Note: This procedure requires administrator privileges.
- Step 1. Please perform "Setup.exe" when you installed.
- Step 2. Please select "Remove" and click "Next".
- Step 3. Please click "OK".
- Step 4. Please click "Finish".
After this, if you want to install it again, please restart the PC.
- If both TWAIN driver and WIA driver is installed to the same PC, the drivers of
the same version must be used. Otherwise scanning will not work correctly.
- Do not extract CD-ROM before the installation is finished. Otherwise the system
error might occur.
- During installation of the driver, End User License Agreement might appear
in English. In this case, please confirm it in English.
- (WIA driver only) Scan with selecting "Feeder" (Automatic Document Feeder) as
the source might not work correctly. If this is the case, please select
"Flatbed" (Exposure Glass) instead.
- The WIA function is disabled by default on Windows Server 2003/2003 R2/2008/2008
R2/2012. To use the WIA scanner driver, please enable the setting:
eg:Server 2003/2003 R2:
Step 1. [Start] - [Control Panel] - [Administrative Tools] - Open [Services]
Step 2. Open Properties of "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)h.
Step 3. Set [Startup type] to "Automatic" and click the [Apply] button
Step 4. Click the [Start] button
eg:Server 2008/2008 R2:
Step 1. Open "Start" > "Administrative Tools" > "Server Manager".
Step 2. In the details pane, locate the "Features Summary" area, and then click "Add Features".
Step 3. In the "Add Features" wizard, click to select the "Desktop Experience" check box, and then click "Next".
Step 4. After the Desktop Experience feature is installed, click "Close" to exit the "Add Features" wizard, and then click "Yes" to restart the computer.
Step 5. Open "Start" > Administrative Tools" > "Component Services".
Step 6. In the "Component Services" dialog, click "Services (Local)".
Step 7. Right-click "Windows Image Acquisition", then click "Properties".
Step 8. In the General tab, set the Startup type to "Automatic" and click "OK".
Step 9. Right click "Windows Image Acquisition" again, then click "Start".

In addition, since it is explained by the WEB site of Microsoft, please refer
to the addition of Desktop Experience.
- (TWAIN driver only) If "ADF" (Automatic Document Feeder) is selected, scan of two or more pages might not work correctly from some application.
- Popups such as dialogs or alerts might be displayed behind another application.
- "Cancel" button might need to be clicked more than 1 time to abort scanning.
- If a dialog or an alert is popped up, press "Exit" and close the driver before closing the application.
- Windows Terminal Service is not supported.
- A timeout might occur if a large-sized data is scanned. If this is the case, please configure the scan settings to make the data size smaller (for example lowering the resolution).
- TWAIN driver or WIA driver will not work correctly if more than one device is connected to a PC at the same time. If this is the case, please reinstall the driver with connecting only one device.
