1. Software Overview

This software allows you to play video and audio at variable speeds with natural sounding audio. Simply speeding up the playback rate causes changes in "pitch". This software is created for someone who....

  • is totaly lost because of having downloaded so many movies.
  • simply doesn't have time.
  • is impatient/has a duty to watch the stuff so wants to finish quickly.
  • In other words, this is for someone who is NOT thorough or meticulous.

    2. System Requirements

    Operating System :
    Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows 98 (Windows 95 is not supported).

    Software Requirements :
    Microsoft DirectX 8.0a or later
    (Installing Video Codec with rate conversion support is required for playback. Visit S.E.E.R.A Home Page for more information.)

    Confirmed Operating System under Development Environment :
    Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows XP RC1

    Hardware Requirements :
    1. A PentiumIII-equivalent or later processor at 500Mhz is recommended when playing back MPEG1-Layer3 (MP3) at 2x speed.
    2. A PentiumIII-equivalent or later processor at 800Mhz is recommended when playing back movies.

     

    3. Installation

    1. Download the compressed file into a temporary directory, c:\tmp.
    2. Unzip the ZIP file you have just downloaded. Unzip tool is available at WinZip (http://www.winzip.com).
    3. Open Windows Explorer and drag and drop c:\tmp\NaveTheBK into your program directory (c:\Program Files\NaveTheBK). That's all. The installation is now complete.
    4. Run c:\Program Files\NaveTheBK\naveplayer.exe.

     

    4. Un-installation

    The following procedure describes how to un-install the Nave Player.

    1. Run the Nave Player (c:\Program Files\NaveTheBK\naveplayer.exe).
    2. Go to "Option", and select "Extensions".
    3. Uncheck the file associated boxes.
    4. Remove "directory" from where you installed the software (c:\Program Files\NaveTheBK).

     

    5. Operating Instructions

    You can guess how to operate this software, because it basically takes over Media Player 6.

     :
    Zoom
    Magnifies / Decreases the view of the selected area.
    Time
    Switches between real time (calculated at Xspeed) / original time (calculated at original speed), playback time / remaining time.
    ToolBar
    Play Info Switches the time display and the file name displays ON / OFF
    Play Controls Switches the volume and file botton displays ON / OFF
    PlayList
    Playlist Window display ON / OFF
    StayOnTop
    Brings the window to front

     

    Play
     :
    Play
    Plays the currently loaded file.
    Stop
    Stops the currently playing file.
    Pause
    Temporarily stops the currently playing file. Clicking this again will resume play from the position at which it was paused.
    Next
    Plays the next file in Playlist.
    Prev
    Plays the previous file in Playlist.
    Repeat
    Definition of Repeat
    Single Stops the currently playing file when it is completed.
    Repeat Repeats the currently playing file.
    All Repeats the files in Playlist.
    Random Plays the files in Playlist in a random order.

     

    Bookmarks
     :
    Add Bookmarks
    Adds the file or folder to Bookmarks.
    Edit Bookmarks
    Edits Bookmarks.
    ....
    When you select the file/directory in Bookmarks, the contents of Playlist will be removed, and the selected file/directory will be entered into Playlist. Selecting the file and pressing the shift key will add the file to Playlist.

     

    Option
     :
    Option
    Sets up options in the program. Details.
    Resume
    Resumes play of the file from the position at which it was paused.

     

    (1-ex) Configuration

    Go to Menubar and go to Option, and then go to Option again for Configuration.
    The following describes setting items in Option.


    Speed up parts with no sound Plays parts with no sound at fast speed.
    Analyze file info when added Analyzes file information when the file is added.

     

    Now, you can set extention associations by checking the boxes.
    SelectAll will select all items in the list. Clear unchecks any selected items.

     

    (2) Clock

    Starting from the left, current time, estimated finish time, and name of the currently playing file
    Cliking the Clock switches to running time display.

     

    (3) Screen

    Dragging and dropping a file to this screen plays the file.
    Playlist will be abandoned.
    Click the right mouse button on the Screen for setting similar to Menubar.
    Click the left mouse button to resume Play/Pause.

     

    (4) Volume Controller

    Controls the Volume.


    Audio output ON / OFF

     

    (5) Trackbar

    Controls positioning within the playback content.

     

    (6) File-handling

    Reads file. Playlist will be abandoned. Use PlaylistWindow for adding a file to Playlist. Multiple selection available.
    Plays the previous file in Playlist.
    Plays the next file in Playlist.

    Stop
    Pause

    Fast-foward

    Playback Selection, Click for switching mode

    Stops after finishing the file.
    Repeats the currently playing file.
    Repeats the files in Playlist.
    Plays the files in Playlist in a random order.
    1.2 Controls playback speed, Click for controlling speed
    Choices can be also activated with a wheel mouse.

     

    (8) Playlist Controller

    Adds file to the end of the Playlist. Multiple selection available.
    Adds playable file in selected folder to the end of the Playlist.
    Plays the previous file in the Playlist.
    Plays the currently loading file.
    Plays the next file in the Playlist.
    Deletes the selected file from the Playlist.
    Sorts and shuffles the files in Playlist.
    Saves the current Playlist in a file.
    Reads the saved Playlist.

     

    (9) Playlist

    You can specify the playback order of the tracks by dragging up or down the icons or file name on the left in Playlist. Click right mouse button for add/delete menu.

     

    (10) Bookmarks

    Bookmarks make it easy and simple to enter the selected files or folders into Playlist. Go to Menubar and go to Bookmarks, then go to Edit Bookmarks.

    Selecting Bookmarks Editor displays the following window.

    Enter names of the files or folders in area A, they will appear in Bookmarks in Menubar. Area B will show the locations of the files or folders in area A. Use the buttons on the right for editing Bookmark.

    Add
    Adds files or folders to Bookmarks .... the same as File and Add Directory in Menubar.
    Edit
    Edits the entry name.
    OK
    Submits the contents of bookmarks.
     
    Close
    Abandons the contents of Bookmarks.
     
    Auto
    Uses the entry name for folder or directory name.
    Remove
    Deletes the entry name.
    UP
    Shifts up display position of the entry name.
    DOWN
    Shifts down display position of the entry name.
    OK
    Submits the contents of bookmarks and closes the window.
    Close
    Abandons the contents of bookmarks and closes the window.

    Bookmark Edit is also available by double-clicking A.

    1. Activate the Nave Player, then drag a sound or movie file (with sound) and drop it onto Screen.

    2. Change the lower right 1.0 to 1.2 or 1.3

    3. Now, the sound is not that bad even at fast playback speed, is it?
